Job description

MOD Boscombe Down is a secureestablishment operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. Theestablishment is home to Test & Evaluation squadrons, the SouthamptonUniversity Air Squadron (SUAS), and the Empire Test Pilots School (ETPS).Working alongside the QinetiQ Fire & Rescue Service, Care Plus Groupdelivers the Pre-Hospital Emergency & Urgent Care service for theestablishment.

Job Title: Bank Paramedic

Base: MOD Boscombe Down

Bank hours - as & when Required

We are looking for a paramedic to join our team on Bank at BoscombeDown MOD. The team provide emergency and front line response to the MOD Basewhich has frequent aircraft activity as well as about 1500 military personneland civilians.

You must be a qualified Paramedic and have experience of working withambulance response, in return you will have access to training and support, beprovided with equipment.

Working as partof an emergency medical response team at a military establishment providingboth airfield and domestic cover, the post holder will support the full-timestaff covering for both planned and un-planned absence, as well as providingcover for ad-hoc Out-Of-Hours flying on nights and weekends, provide emergencytriage, assessment, treatment, and onward referral/transfer/discharge ofcasualties.

You will be required to undertake duties including vehicleand equipment checks, participating in training, responding to airfield anddomestic emergencies, driving ambulance vehicles under normal and emergencyroad conditions, and operating in-line with current policies, procedures andguidelines.

Qualifications
  • HCPC Registered Paramedic
  • Full valid UK driving license (no more than 6 penalty points)
  • Emergency driving qualification (IHCD/CERAD/ROSPA or equivalent)
  • C1 driving license entitlement
  • PHTLS
Experience
  • Minimum of 2-years post registration experience and completion of NQP period
  • Experience of working in pre-hospital emergency & urgent care within the previous 6-months
  • Previous experience of working in a medical capacity in industrial, rescue, or airfield settings
  • Previous ambulance HART/SORT experience
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to work as part of a small team but also independently where required
  • Basic IT skills including emails & MS Word
  • Safe Working at Height training
Other
  • No restrictions on practice
  • Able to meet minimum commitments to quarterly on-site training
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to CPG core values
  • Ability to maintain minimum standards of personal physical competency necessary to carry out the core duties of the role including:
  • - Carrying medical equipment and casualties over uneven terrain up to 200m
  • - Moving & handling of casualties in difficult access situations
  • - Ability to rapidly mobilise to vehicles following an emergency alarm
  • Current BPSS (or higher) security clearance
