Job description

Are you a qualified Nursery Nurse looking for flexible working? Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Nurseries is seeking flexible Nursery Nurses to work within our three nurseries in Brighton, Hove, and Crawley.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the Nursery Management team
  • Assisting in the daily operation of the playroom for the assigned age group
  • Supporting other Nursery nurses in their daily duties
  • Working in partnership with parents and outside organizations
  • Providing high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children at the nursery and contributing to service development

Communication and working relationships:
  • Communicate with external organizations, agencies, childcare professionals, OFSTED, and parents using various methods, both verbal and electronic, and report back to the Nursery Management Team
  • Communicate effectively with all staff members on various subjects
  • Attend meetings when applicable
  • Interact with all children at their level
Main tasks and responsibilities:
  • Collaborate within a team, offering leadership, support, and delegation to all staff in the designated age group
  • Represent the nursery and SCFT at all times
  • Maintain nursery standards in line with SCFT and nursery policies and procedures
  • Ensure health and safety are upheld in the nursery and premises
  • Work with the Nursery Management team to address safety and maintenance needs
  • Undertake domestic jobs within the Nursery
  • Provide engaging activities appropriate for each child's developmental needs
  • Support and attend parents' evenings and nursery group meetings
  • Support parents, carers, and family members during nursery attendance
  • Record and report accidents, incidents, and sickness
  • Participate in training and special projects as required
  • Support nursery team development and staff training needs
  • Assist in nursery inductions and promote effective communication and teamwork
