Job description

The successful post holder will become part of a multi-disciplinary Nuclear Medicine team accountable and responsible for high standards of care. We would expect them to work within Trust policy, department procedures, current UK radiological protection and other health and safety legislation.

Main duties of the job

Service Development

1. To work with others in developing and implementing strategies to obtain the views of patients and carers and ensure their views are incorporated into proposed service developments

2. To take an active role in project planning.

3. To formulate, implement and evaluate departmental polices and guidelines, updating these as required.

Research and Audit

1. To actively participate in audit activity relevant to the clinical area and develop and implement action plans.

Educational

1. To be accountable for the teaching, development and supervision of all staff and learners allocated to the area.

2. To ensure the appropriate supervision of junior staff and those undertaking preceptorship. To take responsibility for the induction of new staff and lead in the Probationary process.

3. To help create a suitable educational environment for all grades of learner.

4. To educate and advise patients and carers and to promote positive health education.

Job responsibilities

1. Ensure practice for both imaging and non-imaging Nuclear Medicine procedures is in accordance with the HCPC / relevant professional body code of Professional conduct and the Trusts "Employer's Procedures" and to work within limits of competence.

2. To maintain high standards of care by personal example and conduct and be a credible and accountable practitioner.

3. Participate in the daily clinical care of patients including QC procedures and image processing via modality specific software.

Person Specification
Qualifications/training and professional development
  • HCPC - registered Radiographer or Nuclear Medicine Technologist on the Register for Clinical Technologists (RCT)
  • Qualification in leadership and management, or equivalent experience/development
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and maintenance of a Personal, Professional Profile
  • Ability to undertake challenging conversations with both staff and patients
  • Ability to motivate team of clinical staff
