Are you looking for a fulfilling role that supports those struggling with their mental health to regain choice and control of their lives? If so, we want to hear from you.

The Mental Health Support Worker role is rewarding but can be challenging. It requires someone who is experienced, empathetic, and resilient in supporting individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

Your responsibilities include providing emotional support through active listening, de-escalation, and distraction techniques. You will also signpost clients to appropriate services and complete internal referrals for practical support when needed.

This position is part of our Mid Essex Sanctuary service, which aims to support individuals with long-term, complex mental health issues who are in crisis. These individuals may be under the care of other services or may have been excluded from available services. The service also accepts referrals for individuals who have never experienced poor mental health but find themselves in crisis.

Referrals are received via NHS 111 option 2, mental health teams, and mental health liaison services. When appropriate, referrals are made to outreach, community link, or substance misuse teams.

We are a real living wage employer and offer a range of benefits, including health, wellbeing, lifestyle, and financial perks to support our staff. Benefits include: 36 days holiday (including 8 bank holidays, pro-rata for part-time staff), holiday purchase scheme, competitive pension, recruitment referral bonuses, training and development opportunities, flexible and agile working arrangements, an annual wellbeing day, expert supervision and peer support, extended weekly lunch breaks, onsite parking at most locations, company sick pay based on length of service, and a charity worker discount scheme.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. We collaborate with our communities and partners to drive innovation and better decision-making. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds to better reflect our communities.

Join us in creating an environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and valued. Let’s build a community that thrives on inclusivity and mutual respect.
