Job description

We now have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team. The prison houses around 1500 men with a variety of health needs and within this role, youll be an integral part of our safe and secure medicines management service.

HMP Garth, a Category B prison in Lancashire. The Mental Health Nurses will be based within the healthcare department but will also be working on the prison wings. We are looking for candidates who have prison experience.

Hours and Pay

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 8am - 4pm

Hourly Bank Rate:

  • Weekday - £23.83
  • Weekends - £25.68
  • Bank Holidays - £30.82

Responsibilities

As a Bank Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
  • Assess patients health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
  • You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
  • You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care

Requirements

Requirements:

  • NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
