Job description

Cygnet Hospital Churchill, located in south London, is a 56-bed inpatient mental health hospital for men. We are currently recruiting for a Bank Kitchen Assistant with previous experience working in a catering, kitchen, or hospitality environment. The role involves covering flexible ad hoc shifts to accommodate annual leave, sickness, training, etc.

You can choose shifts on a rota basis, typically from 8am-4pm or 11:00am-7:30pm, available from Monday to Sunday. You will assist the Chef in maintaining hygienic, clean, tidy, and safe catering areas and support all aspects of the catering operation as needed.

Main duties
  • Assist in preparing balanced, appetising meals
  • Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties
  • Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room
  • Wash utensils and dishes, ensuring proper storage
  • Maintain personal hygiene according to standards and food hygiene regulations
  • Handle and store kitchen equipment following procedures
  • Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
Candidate requirements
  • Experience in catering, preferably within a care setting
  • Food hygiene certificate and good personal hygiene standards
  • Enthusiastic, eager to learn, and a team player
  • Polite, professional, with a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Diligent and committed to high cleanliness standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
