The Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit provides high quality care for patients with a wide variety of medical, surgical and obstetric conditions in a critical care environment. Our Intensive Care Team are friendly, supportive and committed to delivering excellent patient care.
If you are a Nurse with paid critical care experience at Band 5 or Band 6 level within the HDU and ICU environment and you’d like to progress your career in a leading-edge environment, think about joining the Homerton Staff Bank. Banding based on experience and post-graduation critical care course.
We undertake to develop your skills in critical care and support you effectively in this dynamic clinical area. In return you should have a willingness to learn, the desire to work under pressure, the ability to work as an effective team member, good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload.
Main duties of the job
You need to be confident that you have the skills to be responsible for delivering a high standard of nursing care. You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to work using your own initiative as well as working effectively within a team.
Patient care is at the heart of what we do. You must be able to assess individual patient needs, plan to meet them and implement and evaluate the care planned. You must be able to adapt to work to meet the specific needs of patients and their relatives.
The post holder will practice within a team of nursing staff, and act as a ‘named nurse’ for a group of patients: assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care needs.
You will not require direct supervision and will be expected to co-ordinate a ward area providing direction to junior staff.
