An exciting opportunity at a leading hospital in Sheffield for a Bank Housekeeper. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Bank Housekeeperto work across the our small Eating Disorder Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to workwithin a talented and dynamic multidisciplinary team.
As an independent hospital all 18 inpatient beds (Adult andAdolescent) are commissioned by NHS England and we work closely with the NHS toprovide a responsive, specialised package of individualised treatmentdetermined by need and based on clinical expertise and best practice.
The post holder will:
Ensure the hospital meets and maintains a high standard ofcleanliness in compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and is fitfor purpose, and a safe and nice environment for patients and staff.
Ensure all precautions are taken to prevent the spread ofinfection.
Ensure compliance with COSHH.

The Housekeeper will be familiar with theHospital Infection Control Policy, ensuring in their work schedule that thispolicy is adhered to at all times.
Be able to understand and follow theNational Standards of Cleanliness but specific attention to the colour codingrequirements.
To collaborate and recognise theimportance of effective communication with other members of the wider team.
Carrying out laundry duties to a highstandard.
Reporting maintenance problems to theEstates Manager
Routine & deep cleaning of patientlounges, offices, clinics and communal areas.
At all times be polite, courteous and demonstrate sensitivity andcompassion.

Assist in the ordering andmaintenance of stock.
To ensure that all equipment usedwithin the department is in good working order and is used appropriately.

KeyTasks & Responsibilities
To ensure compliance with PPE (PersonalProtective Equipment) to maintain standards of safety and prevent/controlinfection.
Action deep cleaning in response to COVID-19.
To keep the hospital clean and tidy in accordancewith the rotas or in addition where required or directed. This includes:
oCleaning communal and ensuite bathrooms and toiletsincluding ensuring that lavatory brushes and holders are thoroughly cleanafter use
oCleaning bedrooms, make beds, dust and vacuum allareas
oMaintain clean corridors, using warning coneswhen washing floors, shampoo carpets where necessary
oEmptying of rubbish bags daily
oLaundering of linen and towels
oHigh and low dust (including skirting boards/windowledges/curtain rails/notice boards/picture frames/furniture/doors and doorstays)
oVacuum carpeted areas, daily removal of spots orstains, and shampooing of carpets using machinery on housekeeping supervisorinstruction
oDamp dust/polish desks, furniture, fittings inoffices, day room, and any other ancillary rooms attached to the area
oDamp clean all telephones
oDamp wipe light switches
oRemove spots and splashes from paintwork on doorsand walls
Maintain and store all cleaning equipment in a safe,clean and hygienic condition, and in accordance with correct storage
Faulty electrical equipment must be removed fromuse and reported to the Estates Manager and to theWard Manger as soon as practicably possible.
Ensure practice is safe; use housekeepingtrolleys at all times
Maintain adequate supplies across the hospitalincluding:
oTop up paper hand towel containers withappropriate consumables
oCheck and refill toilet roll containers
oCheck and refill hand soap, hand cream and handgel dispensers across the hospital

DIMENSIONS
Riverdale GrangeHospital provides a service to 9 adolescent patients who may detained underMental Health Act (1983) and 9 adult patients who are undergoing treatment ona voluntary basis.
The post-holder will be required to work as a Bank Housekeeperwithin a multidisciplinary team across the hospital.
The post holder will maintain a clean and safeenvironment which is fit for patients, staff and the public to use

Experience of working within a team.

COMMUNICATION& RELATIONSHIP SKILLS
Receivingsensitive information in an atmosphere where patients can be hostile, antagonisticor emotive, where adherence to detail and accuracy must be high.
Actin an appropriate dignified and responsible manner with patients, relatives,colleagues, using appropriate language and communication skills whichacknowledge cultural differences.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Frequent requirement to exert physical effortthroughout the period of work.Thisis a physically demanding role which requires mobility.
Theability to use and transfer Riverdale equipment within the unit.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT
Very occasional exposure to highly distressing,traumatic incidents such as self-harm, forced nasogastric feeding, verbal abuseor challenging behaviour from patients.May witness or be faced with patients who, at times, present with aheightened level of distress, agitation and hostility.
Maintaining high levels of self-awareness,mindfulness and vigilance within the working environment. Ability to maintaina balanced/objective perceptive while working under potentially stressfulsituations and conditions.
MENTAL EFFORT
There is a need to respondflexibly, sensitively and appropriately to situations within the context ofwork and in line with patient need/circumstances within the clinicalenvironment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Very occasional exposure to verbalabuse from patients. By their placement in Riverdale Grange Hospital, allpatients are deemed to be vulnerable and may present a risk to themselves.There is a potential future risk to the post holder in relation to dischargedpatients attempting to contact (e.g. importance of clear professionalboundaries is maintained).
