We directly deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy and Clinical Substance Misuse in an integrated healthcare delivery model to provide effective and responsive care to improve wellbeing and support better outcomes in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of high quality nursing care to patients in prison with the support of a registered nurse.
  • Provide physical care to patients according to a written care plan, including withdrawal observations, ECGs and wound care, and support medication rounds.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and confidently liaise with other services to support the patient throughout their time in the prison setting.
  • Actively engage with patients in the provision of holistic, needs‑led care which considers the physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the individual.
  • Promote health and well‑being through the delivery of health promotion activities and programmes, responding to patients’ needs and assisting patients to attain optimal physical health.
  • Assist patients to attain optimal physical health and provide psychosocial support.
  • Develop an understanding of and demonstrate use of clinical supervision to reflect upon and modify practice.
  • Contribute appropriately to risk assessment and individualised care planning.
  • Ensure good working relationships with patients, carers, relatives, other professionals and prison and healthcare staff.
  • Adhere to all organisational and prison policies, procedures and guidelines, and maintain patient confidentiality and security.
  • Behave in a professionally acceptable manner and demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities for all people.
  • Understand and apply the term ‘professional boundaries’ when working with patients, offenders and others.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and non‑verbal communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Hospital/primary care or community care experience.
  • Competent at taking blood pressure, ECGs and other observations.
  • Knowledge of wound care.
  • Willingness to undertake National Security Vetting as part of the pre‑employment checks.

  • Proof of ID (including one photographic ID).
  • Proof of address documentation (5 years of address history required).
  • Non‑UK passport holders must provide correct right‑to‑work documentation and a Home Office Share code.
  • UK passport holders who have lived abroad for more than six months in the last three years will need to provide a certificate of good conduct or an overseas police check in English.
  • Applicants not UK passport holders with less than 5 years UK address history must provide a Police Certificate in English from the country previously resided.
