Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking a Bank Healthcare Assistant to support our Urgent Treatment service in West Lancashire. You’ll carry out and document NEWS2 observations, monitor patient conditions, escalate concerns, and deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role requires previous HCA experience in urgent care or related settings, flexible shift patterns, and a valid UK driving licence to cover Ormskirk and Skelmersdale sites.

Qualifications

  • Previous HCA experience within urgent care, acute, community or primary care settings.
  • Experience recording NEWS2 observations and escalating when needed.
  • Ability to score paediatric POPS and escalate appropriately.
  • Competent in recording respiratory rates in young children and babies.

We are seeking an experienced Bank Healthcare Assistant (HCAs) to support our Urgent Treatment services in West Lancashire .

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out and documenting NEWS2 observations, monitoring patient conditions, escalating concerns appropriately, and providing high-quality patient care within a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake and record NEWS2 observations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor patients and escalating any deterioration to the clinical team.
  • Support clinicians with patient assessments and care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care while adhering to infection prevention and clinical governance standards .
  • Previous HCA experience within an urgent care, acute, community, or primary care setting.
  • Competent in performing and recording NEWS2 observations.
  • Competent in scoring paediatric patients according to POPS and escalating appropriately.
  • Competent in recording respiratory rates in young children and babies.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across shifts and respond to changing service demands.
  • A valid UK driving licence and willingness / ability to work across our two sites (Ormskirk & Sklemersdale).

We are also able to consider candidates who have previously undertaken a paramedic course and physician associates who are looking to gain experience working within a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
