At Mountain Healthcare, we are looking for passionate, determined, and resilient individuals to join our teams as Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals in Cumbria.

Main duties of the job
  • Perform forensic sampling, including blood tests for road traffic offences.
  • Signpost and refer patients; offer support for vulnerabilities and help break patterns of re-offending.
  • Deliver substance misuse therapies.
  • Assess and care for detainees and staff in custody suites.
  • Promote good personal healthcare.
  • Collaborate with Liaison and Diversion teams to identify mental health needs.

Job responsibilities

This role is ideal for Registered Nurses (RGN) and qualified Paramedics with over 3 years' post-qualification experience.

Custody environments are dynamic, with no two days alike. Detainees can be held for up to 24 hours, requiring high-quality care for diverse needs, from substance dependence to acute medical issues. Our healthcare professionals are also trained to collect forensic samples to assist police investigations. No prior forensic experience is necessary, as training will be provided to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

If you seek a better work-life balance, this role offers a 4-on, 4-off rota, allowing you to plan personal time well in advance, with shifts comprising two day shifts, two night shifts, followed by four days off. This is a Bank vacancy only.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Paramedic qualification
Experience
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prison, or as a Paramedic Practitioner is advantageous but not essential.
