Job description

BANK Forensic Nurse or Paramedic - Barrow Custody Suite

Are you a Nurse looking for a change? Are you a Paramedic looking for the next step? Do you want to work in forensic healthcare that makes a remarkable, positive, and lifelong difference to people's lives?

If the answer is yes, then this is the right role for you!

Here at Mountain Healthcare, we are seeking passionate, determined, and resilient individuals to join our teams as Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals based in Cumbria.

Main duties of the job

Duties include:

  • Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods).
  • Signposting and conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending.
  • Delivering substance misuse therapies.
  • Assessment and care of detainees and staff in custody suites.
  • Promoting good personal healthcare.
  • Working with Liaison and Diversion to identify mental health needs.
About us

Founded by passionate clinicians, Mountain Healthcare aims to provide expert patient-centred services and leads the clinical forensic healthcare sector in the UK. As a trusted partner of NHS England and the police, our services include Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), Police Custodial Healthcare, Secure Estate Healthcare, and clinical telephone advice. Guided by our values, Be Kind and Do the Right Thing, we deliver holistic, trauma-informed care that improves health outcomes across the criminal justice system. We leverage innovative technologies and strategic partnerships to ensure equal, effective, and efficient services, always prioritizing patients' health, safety, and rights.

Join the best provider and make a meaningful difference. Clinical forensic healthcare is a rapidly growing career path with increasing demand for specialist services. At Mountain Healthcare, we are committed to staff development through training opportunities such as our Forensic Practitioner Gateway, accredited CPD courses, and sector events.

Job responsibilities

This role is an excellent alternative career option for RGN's and qualified Paramedics with over 3 years of post-qualification experience.

The custody environment is dynamic and lively, with no two days the same. Detainees can be held for up to 24 hours, during which we provide high-quality care addressing issues from substance dependence to acute medical conditions.

Our healthcare professionals are trained to collect forensic samples to assist police investigations. Experience in forensics is not necessary.

As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will collaborate closely with police and will receive training to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

If you seek a better work-life balance with clearer boundaries, this role could be ideal. The 4-on-4-off rota allows you to plan personal time well in advance, with shifts consisting of two day shifts, two night shifts, then four days off.
