Job summary

Devon Partnership Trust is seeking a reliable Hygiene Assistant to perform cleaning, food service and patient support duties across wards and departments. Shifts operate on a seven‑day cycle and details are uploaded to the Rosters app for staff to book.

Qualifications

  • Cleaning duties within the allocated department per cleaning schedule and infection control.
  • Safety aware with understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to assist with food service and basic beverage preparation.
  • Good communication with ward staff and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning duties within the allocated department per the cleaning schedule and infection control requirements.
  • Check equipment and display warning signs to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure correct waste segregation and disposal as per Trust policy.
  • Regenerate and serve food, beverage preparation and related duties.
  • Distribute and collect linen to wards and departments and perform laundry duties.
  • Complete Trust departmental paperwork as instructed.
  • Assist with health, safety, hygiene monitoring and audits.
  • Observe Food Hygiene Legislation and hospital policies, reporting faults to supervisors.
  • Engage with training programmes relevant to the role.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and ward staff to maintain high service quality.

Job description

The post holder will work within the trusts various wards, and departments to carry out a range of various duties associated within the provision of cleaning, food service and other patient support activities. This will be over a seven day period, were available shifts will be uploaded to the Rosters app for staff to book.   • Cleaning duties within the allocated department of work and associated areas in accordance with the departmental cleaning schedule, National Cleaning Standards and including specialist cleaning as required by infection control.
  • Checking equipment to be used and displaying warning signs to comply with the health and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring correct waste segregation disposal procedures in accordance with the Trust policy.
  • Regeneration and serving of food, beverage preparation and associated duties.
  • Distribution and collection of linen to wards and departments and associated laundry duties.
  • Completion of Trust departmental paperwork in accordance with standing instructions.
  • Assistance with Health, Safety, Hygiene and monitoring checks/audits.
  • To observe Food Hygiene Legislation, hospital and client policies and procedures at all times, reporting any faults, defects or operational issues to Supervisor/Manager/Client representative.
  • Engagement with all training programmes/courses relevant to the role.
  • Liaise with Colleagues and Ward Staff to ensure the highest quality of Service possible.
