Job summary

Shaw Healthcare is seeking a Bank Chef to join the Trenewydd team in Brecon. You will prepare, cook and serve meals for residents daily, ensuring a varied diet and catering for celebrations, while managing supplies within budget and maintaining HACCP records.

You will work with the Home Manager and staff to meet dietary needs, participate in inspections, and uphold high hygiene and safety standards, helping deliver top-quality care in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering for care home residents.
• Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH guidelines.
• Ability to manage catering records and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for residents and others in a timely manner.
• Provide a varied diet catering for cultural preferences.
• Cater for celebrations and events in the Home.
• Order supplies within catering budget and policy using approved suppliers.
• Maintain accurate catering records in accordance with HACCP.
• Participate in inspections by Environmental Health and/or care regulators and Local Authorities.
• Maintain high hygiene standards in the kitchen adhering to HACCP and COSHH.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment with Health & Safety compliance.

Job description

You will liaise with our Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist and staff to ensure high-quality fresh, home-cooked food is provided every day. You will also establish a rapport with our residents and their families in order to satisfy their dietary needs. You will be responsible for:

• Preparing, cooking and serving meals for residents and others as required, in a timely manner.
• Providing a varied diet, catering for the cultural preferences of those who use our services.
• Catering for celebrations and other events in our Home.
• Ordering supplies within the catering budget and company policy guidelines, using approved suppliers in the absence of the senior cook
• Maintaining accurate catering records in accordance with HACCP.
• Participating in inspections by Environmental Health and/or care regulators and Local Authorities.
• Maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the kitchen by adhering to HACCP and COSHH guidelines.
• Assisting in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Health & Safety and Welfare.
