Job summary

Cygnet Newham House is a 20-bed neuropsychiatric care facility providing rehabilitation for women with acquired brain injuries. We are seeking an outstanding Bank Chef to deliver nutritious meals, support special diets and maintain high hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience working under pressure in a catering/kitchen environment.
  • Strong communication with care staff and patients.
  • Must be able to work within budgets and health/safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook & serve nutritious, balanced meals.
  • Provide special diets considering preferences and needs.
  • Liaise with nursing colleagues on dietary requirements.
  • Maintain kitchen, service areas and dining room cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations.
  • Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment per procedures.
  • Work with COSHH regulations for chemicals.
  • Chef/Cook able to work under pressure and in care-sector settings.
  • Plan nourishing menus within budget.
  • Possess a food hygiene certificate and good personal hygiene.
  • Be polite, professional and communicate well with all levels.
  • Be able to work on own initiative as part of a team.
  • Qualified in catering to City & Guilds 706: 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3

Job description

We are looking for an outstanding Bank Chef whos passionate about food and wants to make a difference. Youll be working flexible bank hours a week at Cygnet Newham House, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care. Cygnet Newham House is our 20-bed neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility providing rehabilitation for women affected by acquired brain injuries (ABI)., Helping others improve and turn their lives around theres no better feeling.   • Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetisin g meals

  • Provide special diets, taking into account individual preferences & needs

  • Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients nutritional & dietary needs

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations

  • Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures

  • Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
    A skilledChef/Cookwho can work under pressure

  • Preferably experienced in the care sector

  • Able to plan nourishing & attractive menus within available budgets

  • The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards

  • Polite & professional, with a positive attitude to internal & external quests at all times

  • An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels

  • Able to work under your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision

  • Qualified in catering to City & Guilds 706: 1 & 2 level or NVQ Level 2/3


Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
