Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for an outstanding Bank Chef who is passionate about food and eager to make a difference.

You will be working Bank Shifts at Cygnet Kenney House, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Cygnet Kenney House is our new hospital for women, located in Oldham. It provides a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health needs and is now open.

We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services supporting women from the North West to be treated closer to home. The hospital has three wards: Billington Ward, a 12-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU); Baldock Ward, a 16-bed Acute service; and Harben Ward, a 16-bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service.

Your day-to-day...

  1. Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious, balanced, and appetising meals.
  2. Provide for special diets, considering individual preferences and needs.
  3. Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients' nutritional and dietary requirements.
  4. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room.
  5. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations.
  6. Handle, maintain, and store kitchen equipment according to Cygnet procedures.
  7. Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

  • A skilled Chef/Cook capable of working under pressure
  • Preferably experienced in the care sector
  • Able to plan nourishing and attractive menus within budget
  • Holder of a food hygiene certificate with good personal hygiene standards
  • Polite, professional, and positive in all interactions
  • An excellent communicator able to liaise at all levels
  • Able to work independently, as part of a team, and under supervision
  • Qualified in catering to City & Guilds 706: 1 & 2 level or NVQ Level 2/3

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
