Job description

Spire Leicester Hospital is looking to hire an experienced Chef to join the team on the Bank, working closely with the Head Chef. The role involves providing high-quality, professional service to customers at all times, demonstrating social skills and a positive approach to customer care.

As a Chef, you will work in designated sections of the main kitchen, producing quality meals that are cost-effective while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene in accordance with our policies.

Our kitchen operates 7 days a week on two shifts: 6:30-14:30 and 11:30-19:30.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Produce meals for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to standards of preparation, production, and presentation.
  2. Maintain a positive and flexible approach to customer service with strong communication skills.
  3. Plan patients’ diets as necessary, including proper stock utilization and allergen awareness.
  4. Ensure quality assurance and patient confidentiality are always maintained.
  5. Comply with all Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH and Manual Handling, and be aware of safety policies.
  6. Be flexible with hours and duties; shift patterns include 7am-3pm, 10am-6pm, or 11:30am-7:30pm, with alternate weekends off.
Who We're Looking For
  1. Previous Chef/Cookery experience and willingness to participate in cooking and presenting dishes during the interview.
  2. NVQ Levels 1 & 2 or an equivalent catering qualification.
  3. Food Hygiene Level 2 certification and a clear understanding of food safety standards.
  4. Exceptional customer service skills.
