We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet.

What you'll be doing

• You will be an integral part of a passionate team helping to provide meals for our patients and ensuring they receive a high-quality experience.
• Providing an efficient, high-quality food and beverage service in line with defined standards, policies, and procedures.
• Involved in all aspects of food and beverage service to patients during your shift.
• Serving meals to inpatients and auditing nutritional intake sheets for each meal.
• Informing staff of any patient who has refused or eaten little of their meal for further management.
• Acting on patient dietary requests for additional or alternative food or beverages and reporting any difficulties or dissatisfaction to the Head or Second Chef.
• Regenerating chilled/frozen food and preparing sauces.
• Plating and serving cold and hot food items, including condiments.
• Probing and recording food and equipment temperatures.
• Providing beverage service, refilling water jugs and beakers, and taking patient orders to communicate with the catering department.

What we’ll look for in you

• Familiarity with health code standards for food preparation and presentation.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills for working with the public.
• Team player willing to take on additional tasks.
• Knowledge of various food types, menus, recipes, and presentation.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Enjoyment of working in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Possession of a Basic Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience in a similar role.
