Location:

Fareham, Hampshire

Days & Hours:

Bank Hours, flexible days and nights available - ad hoc and variable to meet the needs of Alex and his family, which will include cover for team absences.

Pay:
  • £15.44 per hour, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm (Days)
  • £16.54 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays, 8:00am to 8:00pm (Days)
  • £17.64 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays, 8:00pm to 8:00am (Waking Nights)
  • £NLW (Currently £12.21 for age 21 and over) per hour, Monday to Sunday 8pm to 8am (Sleeping Nights)
Requirements:
  • Driver required (own car needed)
  • Driving Client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV)
  • Using own vehicle for work purposes (on duty and attending training)
  • Essential Experience: Complex medical needs, PEG feeding, Hickman Line, supporting a child through waking nights
  • Desirable: Experience with children with trauma and an interest in therapy
  • Pets: Guinea pigs, 1 Dog
  • Accommodation (while on duty): Fully adapted family home with separate Carer's entrance and facilities
  • Start Date: ASAP (subject to checks)
Introducing Alex

Alex is a lovely young boy born in 2013 who thrives on one-to-one attention. He has neurological disabilities and requires carers/support workers to assist him. He enjoys toys with sound and lights and playing with his brothers. He communicates through sounds as he cannot talk.

Alex lives with his parents and two brothers. The role involves providing one-to-one care, attending activity groups and therapy sessions, and supporting his family.

Night Shift Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and attending to Alex as needed
  • Keeping accurate sleep notes, including reasons for waking and actions to resettle
  • Assisting with all aspects of care and personal hygiene during day/night, including medication, liquids, feeding, and changing linen
