JOB PURPOSE:
- To work in collaboration with a team of Podiatrists and other healthcare professionals, organizations, and agencies to ensure seamless and high-quality care for all patients.
- To monitor, supervise, and delegate podiatry services delivered by support staff, including junior clinicians and Podiatry Assistants, and to mentor students during placements.
- To liaise with and refer to the direction of Specialist Clinicians when necessary and appropriate.
- Ensure that policies, procedures, clinical governance arrangements, and lines of accountability are in place, well communicated, and ensure safe clinical service delivery.
- To be aware of and act in accordance with the Trust’s clinical and organizational policies and guidelines.
- To adhere to the HCPC Code of Conduct, Standards, and Guidelines, working within the codes of professional practice.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely manner.
- Maintain personal knowledge and credibility as a practitioner.

Key Responsibilities:
- Autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a range of medical and podiatric conditions using appropriate techniques and tools, including lesion debridement, local anesthesia, nail surgery, and caustics.
- Create and implement tailored treatment plans for diverse patient groups, including high-risk and at-risk categories.
- Recommend limited prescription medicines.
- Recognize and refer urgent or complex cases to appropriate services.
- Deliver care in various settings, including clinics and patients' homes.
- Engage patients and carers in treatment planning, negotiations, and education on self-care.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care.
- Implement service discharge policies for patients not meeting treatment access criteria.
