An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward-thinking experienced Registered Nurse, as outlined in the JD essential qualifications, who is passionate about safeguarding and is currently working in a similar role with a minimum of two years at Band 8a in safeguarding adults or a Band 8a with significant experience in safeguarding adults within an acute hospital environment.

As part of the corporate safeguarding service, the Safeguarding Adults Named Nurse will be a key leader and will be responsible for the delivery and monitoring of safeguarding and dementia procedures. This will include the provision of specialised advice and expert knowledge/training to staff, peers, other professionals, and multi-agency partners on all aspects of safeguarding adults.

The postholder will act as a conduit of communication with professionals internal to the organisation and ensure continued external partnership working is achieved. The postholder will be an experienced team manager and aware of staff-related HR policies.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the job is to promote the early accurate identification and management of safeguarding concerns by leadership, expert practice, research, and education.

The post holder will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies to influence the pathways of care for safeguarding adults at risk. They will initiate and add to research evidence in the field of safeguarding to ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care.

Education/ Qualifications
  • Registered Adult Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse or Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN)
  • First level degree in nursing or health care related subject.
  • MSc in a related subject or equivalent experience
Skills/ Abilities
  • Ability to assess, investigate and write detailed coherent reports regarding case alerts and incidents.
  • Ability to develop and provide education, training and supervision to multi-disciplinary staff at all levels across BHRUT.
  • Chairing meeting skills.
Experience/ Knowledge
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years at Band 8a in a senior safeguarding adult’s role within an Acute Hospital Trust.
  • Recent experience of a leading role within Dementia services.
