Role: Locum Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist
Banding: Band 8a
Location: London
Duration: 6 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full-time
Rate: Day: £34 – £39 per hour

About the role:

The Pharmacy team at Pulse is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Band 8A Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist to join our team in London. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, lasting for 6 weeks. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to oncology and haematology patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

You will provide clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients at both outpatient and inpatient levels. You will develop and monitor medicines optimization and management activities to ensure safe, effective, and timely use of medications. You will support the delivery of cancer performance targets within the service area. You will offer expert advice and support to consultants, other clinicians, and patients regarding the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines. You will conduct pharmacist-led clinics to review oncology outpatients and ongoing treatments. You will ensure oral Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) patients receive appropriate counselling and support with their medication. You will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide integrated care for cancer patients. You will act as a role model and provide training and development for junior pharmacy staff. You will maintain and achieve appropriate standards for medicine management and legislative requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Master’s degree in pharmacy (or equivalent).
    • Post-graduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience.
    • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
    • Significant experience in oncology or haematology pharmacy.
  • Desirable:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to deliver complex information to patients and their relatives effectively.
    • Commitment to continuous professional development.
    • Enthusiasm for training and developing other members of staff.
