This is an exciting secondment opportunity to be the Lead Nurse for HIV outpatients and day care at the Royal Free London. The post holder will provide clinical expertise, management and professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels within their area of responsibility, ensuring that nursing care is delivered to a high standard and that the nursing resource is managed effectively.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be accountable for leading on all aspects of quality management related to nursing practice within HIV care. They will provide a visible presence with strong professional, clinical, and managerial leadership to develop nursing at a strategic and operational level.

The post holder will provide specialist knowledge, support, and advice on HIV to patients, carers, and across the HIV Service as a whole, whilst being an independent autonomous practitioner and independent prescriber.

The Lead Nurse will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and across different levels of the organisation with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation, to facilitate and support, inspire, design and lead projects.

Experience
  • Demonstrable experience within HIV care at a senior nursing level
  • Experience of leading change, delivering tangible and sustained improvements
  • Clinical experience of designing, establishing, or managing HIV services and/or care pathways
  • Significant experience of working as an autonomous practitioner and independent prescriber
  • Leadership skills that are capable of supporting and developing service/others
  • Experience of influencing staff at all levels to ensure project objectives are owned by all members of the teams
  • Managing and/or leading a team
  • Evidence of successful delivery of financial and/or quality benefits within agreed timescales
