Join Our Team as a Band 8a Sonographer at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

Are you an experienced sonographer passionate about delivering exceptional patient care? The Royal Free London Trust is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Band 8a sonographer to join our outstanding Imaging Department, working across our Barnet, Chase Farm, and Edgware sites. Our department provides a wide range of acute, specialist, and community health services, performing over 200,000 ultrasound scans annually.

In this role, you will work at the forefront of healthcare innovation, collaborating with a diverse and talented team. Your expertise will contribute to advancing diagnostic services, mentoring junior staff, and service improvements. Main Responsibilities

• Perform and report on a full range of ultrasound examinations, including general abdomen, gynecology (including emergency gynae), small parts, hernias, vascular, paediatrics (including baby hips), and obstetric scans (including early pregnancy).
• Desirable but not essential: experience in MSK, breast, and head & neck ultrasound.
• Provide expert clinical opinions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for accurate diagnosis.
• Mentor junior sonographers, radiographers, and students.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and health & safety regulations.
• Contribute to service development, clinical audits, QA programs, and evidence-based practice.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff, embodying our World-Class Care Values.
• Support consultant sonographers and managers as part of this advanced role.

Cross-site rotation across Barnet, Chase Farm, and Edgware will be required based on service needs.
