Job Title:Clinical Psychologist
Band:8A
Location:Birmingham, West Midlands
Hours:37.5 hours
Rate:£55,800 – £63,487 per annum

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work with our service users across our inpatient units, providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, whilst offering advice and consultation on service users’ psychological care to the multi-disciplinary team. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. In addition, you will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research within the area served by the team/service.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, your role will involve developing the psychology service in our new hospital. You will provide specialist psychological assessments to service users referred to the team, formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s mental health problems. Additionally, the postholder will provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals, contributing directly to service users’ formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plan.

You will undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual service users, utilising a team approach to the completion of START and associated formulations, and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognised Psychology Degree Qualification or equivalent (qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist).
  • Full registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Registered Member of a professional body.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience as a Specialty Doctor.
  • Experience in triaging autism and ADHD cases.
  • Ability to travel across a variety of sites in a timely manner.
  • Expertise in psychological assessments and interventions.
  • A high level of clinical skills as evidenced by peer review and reports.
  • Evidence of incorporating core values of commitment, trust, integrity, and kindness into their work with others.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across a range of clinic models, venues, and days of the week.
  • Good communication skills and level of IT literacy.
  • An interest in advancing professionally as evidenced by attendance and contribution to reflective practice meetings, reliability meetings, and/or other CPD events within their professional clinical practice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
