Job Description:

Pulse is currently seeking a determined Band 8a Forensic Psychologist to join our client’s Personality Service at a fantastic hospital in London. This full-time, 3-year position is available for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to start as soon as possible.

The service specializes in treating individuals with personality difficulties and a history of sexual offending. It is part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway, delivered jointly by NHS and Prison partners. The service emphasizes collaboration with Prison, Probation, healthcare providers, and the criminal justice system to improve health, support justice, and reduce re-offending.

Main Duties:
  • Conduct specialist clinical assessments and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Provide psychological therapies for patients with personality disorders, mental disorders, intellectual disabilities, or complex trauma. Develop formulations and implement interventions for individuals and groups.
  • Perform detailed psychological assessments, analyzing complex data to inform diagnosis and treatment.
  • Administer and interpret assessments of cognitive and emotional functioning, aiding multidisciplinary teams.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group treatments based on theoretical and best practice guidelines.
  • Be registered with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist and preferably be BPS Chartered.
  • Possess experience or interest in rehabilitation and recovery within forensic settings.
  • Have clinical supervision training and training in at least two psychological therapies.
  • Demonstrate skills in individual and group work, program planning, and complex psychological assessments.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, especially with sensitive or complex information.
