The Biomedical Science team at Pulse is currently recruiting a Band 8 Biomedical Scientist in Histology to work in Devon. We are looking for a biomedical scientist who can make a real difference in supporting the laboratory’s service.

Position: Biomedical Scientist
Banding: 8
Location: Devon
Hours: Full-time
Duration: Temporary

What will you be doing in this Biomedical Scientist role?

As a Biomedical Scientist in Histology, you will have good knowledge of laboratory informatics systems. On a day-to-day basis, you will support the senior biomedical scientists in delivering the service and provide guidance to junior staff.

Essential Requirements:

  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist
  • MSc approved by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and/or Fellowship of the IBMS or Higher Specialist Diploma
  • Knowledge of histopathology techniques, including safety and legal requirements
  • Experience as a Chief BMS (Band 8a)
  • Chartered Scientist
  • Knowledge of laboratory informatics systems
  • Financial and budgetary awareness
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with Winpath LIMS
  • Involvement in laboratory informatics system design and rollout
  • Knowledge of mortuary and cytology procedures
  • Experience in equipment selection and business case preparation
  • Manual dexterity for microtomy and dissection
  • Exposure to hazardous biological specimens and chemicals
