Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Specialist Wound Care Podiatrist to assess and manage complex foot wounds associated with diabetes, vascular disease and infection. The role includes teaching and supervising junior staff and students, plus contributing to audits and service development.

The post requires HCPC registration, significant wound-care experience, and strong MDT collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• BSc in Podiatric Medicine or a diploma if qualified before 1992
• Certificate in local anaesthesia, plus evidence of post-graduate continuing development
• HCPC registration
• Band 6+ in an acute hospital with high-risk caseload
• Multidisciplinary and interagency working
• Supervising junior staff and students, clinical education and MDT teaching
• Clinical audit, standard-setting and contributing to change and service development
• Core podiatry skills, acute foot conditions and wound management
• Knowledge of NICE and NSF diabetes guidelines
• Time management, organisation and multi-tasking
• Interpersonal skills and negotiation
• Good IT skills

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage complex foot wounds within diabetes, vascular disease and infection contexts
• Collaborate with vascular, diabetes and infectious diseases services for integrated care
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior podiatry staff and students
• Support development of clinical practice within the podiatry team
• Participate in audits, service development and quality improvement
• Take responsibility for policy, financial and physical resources
• Lead and manage information resources
• Engage in research and development
