Job Title:Speech & Language Therapist- PontypoolBanding: 7Location: PontypoolStart: ASAPDuration: Full time Salary: £38,000 – £48,000 per yearWorking hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week 8:30am – 4:30pm and 39 weeks per year

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist to join our specialist day college in Pontypool. This role involves working with 22 pupils aged 16-25 years who have a broad range of physical and learning disabilities, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). What will your responsibilities be:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating therapy programmes for learners with complex communication needs to support their development and learning.
  • Promoting the development of students’ communication skills across the college, supporting wider learning, and taking an active role in the development of new provisions.
  • Accurately recording all therapeutic interventions.
  • Completing complex assessments, pre-college assessments, and, if appropriately trained, dysphagia assessments where required.
  • Providing supervision and support to SLTs and offering professional advice, training, and information to college staff.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • HCPC registered
  • Willingness to undertake dysphagia training
  • Experience and understanding of PMLD, AAC, ASD, and ABI
