The role of the Specialist Practice Development Lead (Clinical Practice Teacher (CPT) is to ensure that the underpinning principles to support learning and assessment in practice are adhered to according to Nursing and Midwifery Council. The post holder will work across the scope of practice within their own discipline to embed quality in clinical practice. The CPT will assist in identifying the clinical and professional development needs to support the clinical workforce as an on-going process. The CPT holds a pivotal role in the teaching, facilitation, assessment and supervision of specialist practitioners and the wider workforce to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.

Main duties of the job
  • Day to day management of learning opportunities and clinical competencies for pre and post-registration students, staff members and, where applicable, partner agencies.
  • Leading and supporting the quality assurance agenda within the practitioner's area of practice.
  • Using specialist skills and knowledge to support practice supervisors and assessors.
  • Liaising and working in partnership with HEI, Professional Development and clinical management teams
  • Teaching and assessing to maintain and achieve clinical standards to provide safe and effective care.
Job responsibilities

The post holder will be required to hold the Clinical Practice Teacher Qualification.
