Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to join our innovative, integrated Neurodiversity team. This role offers an opportunity to support our developing pathway model.

The Neurodiversity Pathway is a developing integrated pathway within CFHD, providing specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, Tics, and Tourette Syndrome. The team collaborates with multidisciplinary colleagues and partner agencies including pediatric teams and educational providers.

This position is based in our Torbay, South & West Devon locality.

Main duties of the job
  • Contribute to the development of an innovative care pathway for neurodiverse children and young people.
  • Conduct high-quality, specialist assessments to understand individual needs.
  • Develop and contribute to evidence-based clinical interventions.
  • Provide quality interventions to children, young people, and families.
  • Offer clinical supervision to team members and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and training to colleagues, families, and partner agencies.
  • Stay informed about latest research and best practices in neurodiversity and mental health.
  • Build strong links within the CFHD network and with external colleagues.

Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
  • Experience working collaboratively with service users and families, using goal-based care and outcome measures.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team working and across agencies.
  • Experience with children and young people's mental health, including risk assessments and complex needs.
  • Experience in specialist mental health assessments and interventions.
  • Experience in safeguarding children and young people.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • Degree and specialist training or equivalent experience to Masters level in a relevant profession (e.g., Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy).
  • Training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Registration with a recognized professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
  • Leadership and supervision training or willingness to develop these skills.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to travel across Devon.
