An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12-month fixed term contract, for a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) Team Lead in the cardiothoracic team; working within a large major trauma hospital, a nationally recognised thoracic and cardiac surgery centre.
The role is ideally suited to an experienced Team Lead OT looking for a new challenge or a Senior OT eager to develop leadership skills in a supportive environment. If you are a kind and compassionate individual with experience and skills relevant to the post, we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking someone with appropriate skills in the management of thoracic surgeries, cardiac surgeries, cardiology conditions, in-patient rehabilitation and discharge planning.
You will be required to support the team in managing a caseload of varying conditions. An understanding of the physical impact of thoracic and cardiac surgeries is required. You will work closely with Specialist Rehabilitation teams, with access to a wheelchair clinic for more complex patients. The caseload may include patients who have been on critical care, a knowledge of delirium management would be beneficial.

Excellent organisational and time management skills are required. As well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key responsibilities include:
Support is available from Clinical Specialist OT as well as an opportunity to work closely with the SHARP team (Specialist Hyper Acute Rehabilitation pathway) in the management of cardiology and cardiac surgery patients with complex presentations.
Experience of working within an Acute NHS setting is required with transferrable skills to the clinical area. Experience of supervising staff is also required.
