Job summary
The major responsibility of the post is to be a clinical specialist nurse for the growing cohort of patients with ATTR amyloidosis whilst coordinating and participating in a range of clinical research studies/trials of exciting novel disease-modifying therapies.
The NAC Senior Research Nurse is an expert nurse within the Trust for the conduct of clinical trials, academic research and studies within the amyloidosis research unit. The SRN works in a collaborative role in conjunction with Principal Investigators, co-investigators and all staff involved in the care and supervision of patients enrolled on trials, in the safe set up and recruitment to trials and in direct collaboration with clinical and academic teams recruiting to locally approved studies. Within this there is the need for visibility, expert communication and teaching skills to engender understanding and support for the research process in Amyloidosis. The SRN is responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of studies in NAC, manages junior staff and leads in all communication to support recruitment, the reporting of clinical events and the collection of quality controlled data. The SRN will represent the Trust in working with external commercial, charities and funding bodies in the delivery of the trials under their management.

As with other ICS's, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.
