Job overview

We are looking for an experienced or newly qualified clinician to work across the Central Bristol Crisis Team.

Location:Various locations within Central Bristol.

The post will be based in the Central Bristol Community Mental Health team base.

The successful applicant will provide specialist assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation, alongside staff training, supervision, consultation, advice and support to the teams they are working within.

The Bristol Crisis Service provides a rapid response to people in acute mental health crisis, offering assessment and immediate intervention and treatment within a person's home or a community setting.

Working into the Crisis team will provide an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in working psychologically with people experiencing acute mental health crises. Ideally you will have an interest in brief models of intervention, assessment and formulation of people in high levels of distress. In addition to direct work with service users, the post requires someone who can provide consultation in case discussions, offer clinical supervision groups and facilitate reflective practice sessions. This indirect work will enhance the team's understanding of the dynamics created within crises and ensure the development of a psychologically informed service. The successful applicant will also support the Service Manager, Senior Practitioners and CPI Crisis Lead with training and developing the staff group as a whole.

Main duties of the job
  • To fulfil a comprehensive role as a Psychological Practitioner within the Central Crisis Team.
  • To assess and treat a specialist workload of clients and maintain associated records.
  • To participate in Continued Professional Development and other developmental activities.
  • To undertake Research and Development and clinical audit
  • To clinically supervise trainees, assistants and team members as appropriate to level of experience.
  • To offer training to staff in the crisis team and other staff where appropriate.
  • Consultation to the Crisis Team.
