Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced aseptic services pharmacy technician to lead and manage the preparation and delivery of safe and high-quality Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy at Barnet Hospital Production Unit. The role involves implementing new regulatory guidance and addressing national agenda items related to pharmacy aseptic services.

The postholder will manage the Pharmaceutical Quality System to ensure controlled documentation is up-to-date, manage Deviations and associated Change Controls, and participate in self-inspections to ensure compliance with QAAPS standards. They will also oversee contamination control strategies, risk mitigation, and work closely with the Education and Training coordinator to ensure timely team accreditations and validations for safe treatment delivery. Additionally, they will review Key Performance Indicators and oversee the environmental monitoring program.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing all aspects of the daily production service at Barnet Hospital, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as Section 10 pharmacy aseptic preparation, COSHH, Health and Safety, GMP, GCP, and QA regulations.
  2. Developing and maintaining controlled documentation, including worksheets and SOPs, in collaboration with the Operational Lead Pharmacist and RFH Quality Assurance. Ensuring regular review and updates of documentation.
  3. Reporting quality exceptions and deviations from SOPs via the EQMS system, documenting issues, and ensuring timely resolution.
  4. Ensuring environmental monitoring is conducted as required by trained staff.
  5. Verifying that clean rooms operate within specifications before manufacturing.
  6. Potentially working cross-site between Barnet and Hampstead, and future sites within the NHS Trust group.
