Job description

Job summary

We're seeking a strategic and compassionate Project Manager to join our transformative, equity-led programme addressing gaps in personalised cancer care across London.

This role involves more than project delivery — it's about creating meaningful system change. Funded and in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, the Macmillan Quality of Life Community REACH programme is now in its implementation phase. After engaging with underserved communities and stakeholders, we are launching three pan-London workstreams to:

  • Build culturally safe, community-connected cancer pathways through engagement and communication strategies rooted in equity and quality of life principles
  • Enhance information sharing and service navigation for populations often excluded from mainstream healthcare initiatives
  • Integrate equity and anti-racism into workforce development and training

You will play a key role in ensuring these workstreams are delivered with clarity, integrity, and impact.

Please note: this is a fixed-term contract, and applications for secondment opportunities are also welcome.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead and coordinate multiple projects across the three core workstreams, managing timelines, deliverables, and risks
  • Collaborate with underserved communities in London to co-design recommendations that influence policy and practice
  • Produce engaging reports, presentations, and outputs for NHS bodies, Macmillan, community partners, and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate collaboration among ICBs, NHS England, Cancer Alliances, community groups, and clinicians
  • Represent the programme professionally at external forums, maintaining credibility and humility
  • Monitor progress, evaluate impact, and contribute to evidence on effective approaches to reducing inequity in cancer care
About us

This role is within the Transforming Cancer Services Team (TCST) for London, hosted by the Royal Free London NHS Trust, a collaborative and high-performing team committed to health equity and co-production. You will work closely with system partners, clinicians, community organizations, and individuals with lived experience.

Why join us?

Be part of a purposeful, thoughtful team that prioritizes lived experience and equity. We value co-production, transparency, and sharing power with underserved groups. We embrace disruption and uncertainty, balancing serious work with joy and care. You will have autonomy, along with strong support and access to networks across Macmillan Cancer Support, TCST, and the wider health system.

You will also gain:

  • NHS benefits, including discounts, learning, and development opportunities
  • Access to Macmillan's professional development and peer learning
  • Involvement in shaping a key London cancer equity initiative
  • The opportunity to impact real-world outcomes for overlooked communities in cancer care

If motivated by systems change, community voice, and the belief that better is possible, we would love to hear from you.
