Job description

Job Title: Band 7 Looked After Children’s (LAC) Nurse
Location: Oak Lane Clinic
Pay Rate: £32.00 per hour
Contract Type: Agency/Temporary
Hours: Full-time 3 days office, 2 days home Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Looked After Children’s Nurse to join a committed team providing high-quality healthcare to children and young people in care. This is a key role for a nurse with specialist knowledge in safeguarding and the health needs of Looked After Children. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work in close partnership with the Named Nurse for Looked After Children to ensure the effective planning, management, and monitoring of healthcare services for Looked After Children.
  2. Hold responsibility for a designated caseload, autonomously undertaking statutory health assessments and providing direct, specialist clinical input to meet individual health needs.
  3. Support the implementation of national and local guidance and policies, working collaboratively with the Named Nurse and Named Doctor for LAC.
  4. Ensure children and young people in care receive timely, holistic, and child-focused health assessments and interventions in line with statutory requirements.
  5. Provide and deliver training and education to foster carers and professionals within health and social care.
  6. Promote best practice and work in accordance with local safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working protocols.
Requirements:
  1. Registered Nurse (Child or Adult) with active NMC registration
  2. Significant experience working with Looked After Children or in a relevant public health/safeguarding role
  3. Strong knowledge of statutory guidance, policies, and frameworks related to Looked After Children
  4. Excellent communication, organisational, and report writing skills
  5. Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and deliver professional training
  6. Enhanced DBS required
