Job description

Role: Locum Cardiac Physiologist
Banding: Band 7
Location: Birmingham
Start Date: 05/09/2024
Rate: £45 – £50 per hour
Duration: until 31/03/2025
Working hours: 4 long days (08:00AM to 18:00PM) – Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri. 37.5 hours per week.

About the role:

The Clinical Physiology team at Pulse is seeking a skilled Band 7 Locum Cardiac Physiologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be independent in pacing implant and follow-ups, IBHRE or BHRS accredited, and able to run physiologist-led exercise tests. Responsibilities include analysing and reporting Holter’s & event monitors and performing independent Cath lab procedures (paediatric interventions supported if no prior experience). General and people management skills are advantageous, with potential for Band 8a pay rate for those with relevant experience. No paediatric experience necessary, but a better rate is offered for those with it.

Key Responsibilities as a Cardiac Physiologist:

You will perform pacing and device implantation procedures. You will ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care. You will maintain accurate and detailed patient records. You will stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiac physiology.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Clinical ECG / ABPM experience.
    • Relevant qualifications and experience as a Cardiac Physiologist.
    • IBHRE or BHRS accreditation.
    • Independent in pacing implant and follow-ups
    • Ability to run physiologist-led exercise tests
    • Proficiency in analysing and reporting Holter’s & event monitors
    • Capability to perform independent Cath lab procedures
    • General/people management skills (advantageous)
  • Desirable:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Commitment to patient care and safety.
