A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work across the Learning disability and autism neurodiversity pathway (LDA) here at HMP Birmingham, which is cemented within the prison mental health team.

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust are the NHS provider of healthcare delivery for HMP Birmingham and work alongside several partnership agencies.

Main duties of the job

HMP Birmingham is part of the regional resource for the remand estate in the West Midlands, and is a Cat B establishment, servicing the Birmingham crown and magistrates' courts. The prison currently holds a maximum of 970 prisoners, with a combination of both sentenced and remand adult males.

We are now looking to enhance our skilled team with a Speech and Language Therapist to build services for the LDA and Neurodiverse pathway.

There is a great opportunity to embrace change and embed culture.

Our service has defined structured Mental Health teams in operation and a supportive multi-disciplinary team, made up of Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, and Psychologists.

As part of our inspiring teams, you'll have the scope to share ideas and follow them through into innovative practice.
