Band 7 Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist with an interest in CRM

This is an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist with an interest in CRM to join a busy, established Device Service in a friendly Cardiology Department.

The role is based at Good Hope Hospital, part of University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where we perform device implant and follow up including Conduction System Pacing and S-ICD implant.

As a Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist you will be BHRS/IBHRE accredited to support all aspects of the CRM Service.

There is a requirement to support the Device On Call Service.

You will also be required to cover other aspects of diagnostic cardiac physiology, to include angiography, exercise tolerance testing and Holter analysis.

This is full time role working 37.5 hours per week across 4 days, 08.00-18.00.

On occasion there may be a requirement to support services at other sites within the Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • Perform highly specialised Cardiac Physiology investigations and interventions including:
  • Perform advanced physiological testing during pacemaker, CRT-P and ICD/CRT-D implantation and follow-up with analysis of highly complex data and diagnostic information.
  • Independent prescription and evaluation of device therapy and programming ensuring individualised device optimisation.
  • Additionally, perform a broad range of clinical investigations undertaken within the Cardiac Physiology Service including, but not limited to:
  • Performance, analysis and interpretation of resting ECGs, including independent interpretation for Direct Access patients.
  • Manage physiologist-led Exercise Tolerance Testing
  • Cardiac catheterisation (including complex cases)
  • Permanent pacemaker and implantable loop recorder implantation and follow-up

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent) or Masters in Cardiac Science
  • Highly specialist knowledge of Clinical Physiology in at least one area to Masters level or equivalent (Echocardiography or Devices).
  • IBHRE/BHRS accreditation
  • RCCP Registered
  • ASCST/MSCST
Experience
  • Experience and scientific knowledge through formal study, training and practice in highly complex and specialized Cardiac investigations.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the use of PCs and data entry.
  • Experience of Cardiology IT storage systems.
  • Health and Safety knowledge and experience.
  • Research experience
