About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 / 7 Senior Hepatology Specialist Nurse to run a fully independent outpatient clinic at Great Western Hospital. • Perform and interpret FibroScan assessments (fibrosis and steatosis grading).
  • Organise and book further imaging and blood tests as required.
  • Lead the stable cirrhosis clinic, initiating surveillance protocols, follow-up scans, and blood tests.
  • Recognise and escalate cases of decompensated cirrhosis or potential cancers to the senior team.
  • Review and manage patients with existing liver conditions (e.g., haemochromatosis, AIH, PBC) to ensure their treatment and care is still suitable and effective.
  • Provide counselling, treatment reviews, and timely care in a single-visit model, and discharge where appropriate.
  • Complete administrative work for virtual clinics outside of face-to-face clinic time.
Requirements
  • Senior Hepatology Specialist Nurse
  • IRMER trained with the ability to independently book ultrasounds.
  • FibroScan trained and confident in interpreting results.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a nurse-led service.
