Job overview

We are looking for a motivated Clinical Psychologist to join our South Gloucestershire CAMHS locality team based at Kingswood Hub and Patchway Hubs. You will have relevant qualification and professional registration (please contact if you are due to qualify in 2025) and experience of working with children and young people, preferably within a community CAMHS service.

We are a supportive, experienced and creative multi-disciplinary team. We offer individual, family, specialist and group interventions which may be time limited or longer term therapies according to need. You will have the opportunity to utilise your existing skills within core work and/or specialist clinics ideally within our Eating Disorder clinic. Also to further develop your skills and experience with support from our experienced team and our training opportunities.

22.5 hours per week, flexible working pattern considered for suitable candidate.

Main duties of the job

  1. To provide a clinical psychology service to South Gloucestershire community CAMHS
  2. To assess and treat a specialist workload of clients and maintain associated records
  3. Participate in CPD and other developmental activities
  4. Undertake Research & Development and clinical audit
  5. Clinically supervise Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists, trainee Clinical Psychologist and other professionals

South Gloucestershire CAMHS is a supportive, experienced and progressive multi-disciplinary team. We offer individual, family and group interventions, which may be time limited or longer term therapies according to need. We have radically transformed in recent years including improved staff retention; fantastic team skill mix and opportunities for innovative practice. For example producing a series of professionally filmed videos to provide an online group and resources for young people experiencing emotional dysregulation. We also strive to provide compassionate leadership as we recognize the importance of staff well-being. You will receive regular clinical, peer and management supervision and access to continued professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. To provide a psychology service to the designated team including assessment and therapy both for individuals and groups as appropriate.
  2. To provide a specialist consultancy service to multidisciplinary teams and other agencies providing care for the client group.
  3. To participate in generic team duties as agreed by the operational manager and Psychology Lead as appropriate, to the needs of the service.
  4. To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Psychology Service.
  5. To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.
  6. To ensure timely recording of all data required by the Trust.
  7. To support the full implementation of CPA acting as care co-ordinator as appropriate to the needs of the service.

Qualifications and Registration

Essential criteria

  • Doctoral clinical/ Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
  • Eligible for Chartered Psychologist status

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Assessment and therapeutic interventions with client group
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of interest in working with specified client group

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of teaching/training

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Empathy/engagement skills with the client group
  • Ability to cope with workload pressure/prioritise workload
