The breast care nursing team works within all the site-specific stages of the breast disease pathway, collaborating and cross-covering all breast clinical nurse specialists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

1. Be an active member of the breast care nursing team with a willingness to develop new skills.
2. Participate in the provision of high-quality specialist nursing care to patients with breast disease throughout the patient pathway.
3. Work autonomously using expert clinical judgement and knowledge to provide informational and psychological care to patients and their families.
4. Assist with all aspects of breast care provision in association with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
5. Act as a nursing resource, providing clinical leadership and expertise as a specialist nurse in relation to breast cancer.
6. Take responsibility for own evidence-based practice and ensure awareness of current research.
7. Develop all staff within the multidisciplinary team, providing support, advice, and education.

Qualifications/ Education

• BSC/1st degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
• Post registration qualification in appropriate area of specialty or equivalent post qualification experience.
• To have or working towards a master's degree.

Statutory Registration

• Breast Care Qualification
• Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area delivering effective patient-focused care.
• Proven evidence of management/leadership skills and autonomous practice.

Skills/ Knowledge/ Ability

• Advanced clinical, managerial, and leadership skills in specialty.
• Proven listening/counselling skills with the ability to manage complex situations and deliver sensitive outcomes.
• Ability to lead and influence staff.
• IT Skills.
