Job summary

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust are looking for a dedicated Podiatrist to join on long term placement contract. To work autonomously to provide a comprehensive advanced assessment, diagnostic, treatments, and management of patients with complex needs will provide advanced experience and knowledge within the field of diabetes within podiatric medicine and must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and be qualified to administer local anaesthetic. To provide advanced clinical expertise across the service area, participating in the development of professional competences and participation in professional appraisal systems.

Main duties of the job
  • As a part of podiatry team, you must have experience of Diabetic foot ulcers and working in a MDFT. Experience of ward rounds is desirable but not essential; you will be an expert resource for patients and will promote and facilitate self-management principles in appropriate patients.
  • You will work in collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, to promote excellent standards of care to patients in line with local or National principles/guidelines, and to provide education to professionals, patients and their carers by encouraging independence and self-management.
  • This role includes travelling to various clinic sites within the Trust; therefore you would be expected to be able to attend a variety of sites.

Job responsibilities
  • To assess, diagnose, and implement advanced care plans for patients with complex needs, including those with diabetes and related co-morbidities.
  • To provide high-quality clinical care across various settings including community clinics, health centres, and acute inpatient/outpatient environments.
  • To act as a patient advocate, addressing concerns, promoting incident reporting, and ensuring proper investigation and documentation of clinical issues.
  • To support the management of clinical complaints and contribute to continuous service improvement in line with HCTs policies.
  • To work with the Podiatry Team Leader to meet key performance indicators and contribute to reports, audits, and presentations regarding service outcomes.
  • To undertake additional duties relevant to the post, as agreed with the Podiatry Team Leader or Clinical Service Lead, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
Person Specification & Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in podiatry
  • HCPC Registration within Podiatry
  • Experience of working within the community and acute settings
  • Post registration podiatry experience within multi-disciplinary diabetic foot teams
  • Certificate of Local Anaesthesia
  • Driving Licence and access of car
