A leading mental health trust in Salisbury is seeking a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological services across inpatient and community settings. Job summary

This newly created post offers a unique opportunity to work across the acute care pathway in Salisbury, with both inpatient and community focus.

The post-holder will provide a comprehensive psychology service to Ashdown inpatient unit, a 6-bedded male psychiatric intensive care unit (4 sessions), and South Wiltshire Intensive Service (5 sessions), with consultation to Mental Health Liaison Service (1 session).

The successful applicant will be a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with demonstrable skills, experience, and knowledge of working in a fast-moving, often challenging multidisciplinary environment. You should be comfortable working closely with staff teams and clients with high complexity, risk, and needs.

There is a strong focus on indirect work with staff teams, including team formulation, reflective practice, training, and supervision.

You will need to be well-organized, able to prioritize clinical work, and liaise effectively with colleagues and other services.

Supervision of junior psychologists and management of the assistant psychologist are also responsibilities.

There is an opportunity to help shape and develop the service based on your skills and experience.

We welcome applications from recently qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and will support your development through a band 7 'Preceptorship' post.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to patients and carers.
  • Offer expert advice and consultation on client formulation and psychological management to non-psychologist colleagues.
  • Use specialist psychological knowledge to contribute to effective patient management within and outside the area.
  • Supervise/line manage trainee psychologists, assistant psychologists, CAPs, and less experienced staff.
  • Contribute to audit, research, policy, and service development.
  • Develop and deliver training in psychological therapies for multidisciplinary staff.
