Job Title: Psychologist

Band: 7/8a

Location: Newcastle, Staffordshire

Working Hours: 37.5 hours – Perm – £40,148 – £60,504 dependent on experience

An exciting new opportunity has become available for a Band 7/8a Clinical Psychologist to join our esteemed client’s dynamic team in Newcastle, Staffordshire. This role is for a Clinical Psychologist. The vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately, with a permanent contract offered. The role offers competitive rates.

What will your responsibilities be?

The successful candidate will participate in the assessment of referrals and provide initial assessment services to referred service users. They will undertake high-quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions, making autonomous clinical decisions. The role involves working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, conducting assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods. They will oversee formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients’ mental health needs based on a multifactorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practices. Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice, in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines, and company policies, is essential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Clinical, Educational, Forensic, or Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC
  • Proven skills and experience in assessing, formulating, and supporting therapeutic interventions with children and young people with complex needs
  • Experience supporting teams around children or young people to create clinically informed living and learning environments
  • Confident, engaging, effective, and capable of leading and training others
  • Highly organized and proactive
