Job summary

Unlocking Language in the United Kingdom is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join a supportive MDT within school settings. You will work across complex needs educational settings, community settings, and mainstream schools as part of a steady SLT team.

Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for inexperienced band 6 to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will work across school settings with a structured mix of clients and support:

  • 3 days per week working in complex needs educational setting (19-25 years) school, as part of an established SLT team
  • 1 day per week with community clients across homes and schools
  • 1 day per week in a mainstream school
Main duties of the job

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for children and young people with a range of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
  • This is an Autism and medical complex needs setting (PMLD secondary).
  • Deliver therapy sessions on an individual and group basis, adapting interventions to suit the needs of students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and other professionals to support student progress.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies, including the use of AAC where appropriate.
  • Write reports and contribute to EHCP reviews.
  • Provide training and advice to school staff to help create a communication-friendly environment.
  • Be part of a speech and language therapy team and MDT.

Salary: £41,500 £46,500 (pro rata) per year
