Job Title: Speech & Language Therapist – PontypoolBanding: 6Location: PontypoolStart: ASAPDuration: Full time Salary:£32,244Working hours: 40hours per week 8:30am-16:30pm, 39 weeks per year

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech & Language Therapist to join our specialist day college in Pontypool. This role involves working with 22 pupils aged 16-25 years who have a broad range of physical and learning disabilities, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). You will play a key role in ensuring that students gain the skills and confidence to communicate effectively as part of their journey towards living as independently as possible. What will your responsibilities be:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes for learners with complex communication needs to support their development and learning.
  • Promote the development of students’ communication skills across the college, supporting wider learning, and taking an active role in the development of new provisions.
  • Accurately record all therapeutic interventions.
  • Complete complex assessments, pre-college assessments, and, if appropriately trained, dysphagia assessments where required.
  • Provide supervision and support to SLTs.
  • Offer professional advice, training, and information to college staff.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • HCPC registered
  • Willingness to undertake dysphagia training
  • Experience and understanding of PMLD, AAC, ASD, and ABI
