This includes the provision of nutrition support and therapeutic dietary advice in acute kidney injury (AKI), pre dialysis, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and conservative management. This role provides a great challenge as our patients have complex needs with renal failure often occurring alongside other clinical conditions including gastroenterology, oncology, diabetes and weight management.

The Renal Dietetic Team is part of a large, friendly dietetic department which provides a great support network. We are proud of the collaborative working relationships we have developed with the wider renal MDT and you will have the opportunity to work closely with and be supported by our medical, nursing and therapy colleagues in order to deliver high quality patient care

Main duties of the job

Experience in renal dietetics is desirable, however not essential as training and support will be provided. Experience in a variety of clinical areas such as gastroenterology, oncology, diabetes and weight management is essential in order to be able to support our patients with multiple comorbidities as well as their CKD.

We are looking for a Dietitian with excellent communication skills and a commitment to team working as you will be required to attend regular MDT meetings where you will discuss patient care including the management of CKD mineral bone disease.

Post registration experience in an acute NHS hospital setting is required alongside the ability to work flexibly with effective time management and organisational skills as you will be working in a fast paced and busy environment.

An integral part of this post will involve participation in student training and the supervision of Band 5 Dietitians.
