The Amesbury Community Team are looking for an inspirational Physiotherapist who is passionate about working with patients in their own homes to deliver a high standard of quality care and improve people’s lives.

Community Physiotherapists deliver care in patients’ homes and residential homes as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team, linking closely with the GP Practices, Adult Social Care and other community services in the local areas. We work with the aim of preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital and in assisting people to manage their conditions in their own homes.

The Amesbury Community Team is a multidisciplinary team including community nurses, therapists, and support staff.

Main Responsibility

The team is based in Amesbury Health Centre and cover the south-east of Wiltshire. As this is a community post, a current drivers licence and access to a vehicle to travel patient’s homes is essential. The therapy team work across shift patterns from 08.30-18.00 and cover weekends. Flexible working can be considered provided we can maintain core shift cover.

Evidence of up to date clinical professional development is essential and experience in Community patient care is preferable.

Applicants need to have excellent clinical skills, well developed communication skills and be able to work under pressure. The role is demanding but rewarding, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking individual who can work flexibly and efficiently. We are a busy, friendly team, who would welcome the opportunity to work with a new member of staff willing to contribute to the on-going development of the services we provide.

The Ideal Candidate

  • MCSP Dip PT / BSc / BSc(Hons) PT / MSc Physiotherapist
  • Registered as a Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professionals Council
  • Relevant Post graduate qualification
  • Teaching and assessing in clinical practice
  • To possess a current, valid driving licence and to be a competent driver
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Knowledge of legislation affecting professional practice
  • Up to date community experience
  • Case management experience
  • Experience of working with adults
  • Working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Leadership experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Knowledge of recruitment, selection & appraisal system
  • Setting and monitoring standards of care
  • Experience within a wide range of patient/client care groups
  • To be able to communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • To be able to work flexibly and sensitively
  • Wide range of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competence in a wide range of physiotherapy skills
  • I.T. literate
  • Skills in preparing and presenting teaching sessions
  • Undertake specific physiotherapy tasks requiring precision and/or intense concentration. Undertaking complex physiotherapy skills
  • Manual handling skills and experience
  • Ability to sensitively inform service users on complex and distressing Issues, able to support and facilitate staff In dealing with these
